When I was first introduced to essential oils it was a bit overwhelming to me. There are so many oils and so many uses I had no idea where to start. Until I had the oils in my hands of course because then I used them for anything and everything. Maybe you don’t know what the right oil is or what you will use most? Lavender is the first oil I am going to talk about. Did you know that Lavender was used during the Medieval times? There was a divide in the people regarding the properties of Lavender regarding love. Some would claim it could keep the wearer chaste, while others claimed just the opposite touting its aphrodisiac qualities.
Lavender is steam distilled from the tops of the flowers. It has a powdery, flowery, light smell to it. It can be used all three main ways you can use an essential oil. Aromatic. Topical. Internal.
Lavender is known for being a universal oil and has traditionally been known to balance the body and work where ever there is a need. When you don’t know what oil to use, use Lavender!
Here are just a few uses for it:
*It is widely used for its calming and relaxing qualities.
*Soothes occasional skin irritations.
*Reduces the appearance of skin imperfections.
*Helps to ease feelings of tension.
*Add a few drops of Lavender to your pillow, bedding, or the bottom of your feet for a restful nights sleep.
*Freshen your linen closet, mattress, car, or the air with a light mist of Lavender combined with water in a spray bottle.
*Add to bath water to soak away stress or to apply to the temples and the back of the neck.
*Use in cooking to soften the citrus flavors and add a flavorful twist to marinades, baked goods, and deserts.
*Take internally to reduce anxious feeling.
*Take internally for a peaceful sleep.
The second oil in the Introductory Kit is Lemon oil. They say that Christopher Columbus actually carried lemon seeds to America. Do you think it was just the leftovers from the fruit he had eaten on the way?
Lemon oil is cold pressed from the rind of a lemon. It takes 3,000 lemons to produce one kilo of oil. Lemon Oil has a clean, fresh, citrus, and bright smell to it. It can also be used all three ways. Aromatic. Topical. Internal.
Here are just a few uses for Lemon Oil.
*It cleanses and purifies the air.
*Naturally cleanses the body and aids in digestion.
*Supports healthy respiratory function.
*Diffuse to promote a positive mood.
*Take internally to assist with seasonal respiratory discomfort.
*Add Lemon Oil to a spray bottle of water to clean tables, counter tops, and other surfaces.
*Lemon oil makes a great furniture polish. Simply add a few drops to olive oil to clean, protect, and shine wood finishes.
*Use a cloth soaked in Lemon oil to preserve and protect you leather furniture.
*Lemon Oil is great for the early stages of tarnish on silver or other metals.
*Put on a rag to help remove stubborn, sticky.
The last oil in the Introductory Kit is Peppermint. Peppermint is probably of my favorites. Have you ever drank peppermint tea? Did you know it takes 28 cups of peppermint tea to equal one pure drop of peppermint oil? You probably have used peppermint daily in things like your toothpaste and chewing gum.
Peppermint plant is a hybrid of the watermint and spearmint plant. It is steam distilled from the whole plant. It has a hot and minty smell to it. It can also be used all three ways. Aromatic. Topical. Internal.
Here are just a few uses for it:
*You can rub it on your temples after you wake up for a morning energy boost.
*Diffuse it when feeling fatigued or low on energy.
*take one to two drops in a veggie capsule to alleviate occasional stomach upset.
*Promotes digestive health.
*Place one drop in your mouth to help freshen your breath.
*add two to three drops to your favorite smoothie recipe for a refreshing twist.
*Place one drop in palm of hand with a drop of wild orange and Frankincense and inhale for a mid day pick me up.
*Helps reduce bloating, gas, and occasional indigestion.
*Promotes healthy respiratory function and clear breathing.
*Commonly found in oral health products.
*Blends well with Lavender for a soothing massage.
*Add to cold water compress or foot bath to cool off when overheated.
*Inhale for a non-stimulant, invigorating pick me up on long drives.
*Add to shampoo or conditioner for a stimulating hair massage.
*Repels bugs naturally.
*Spritz around doors and windows.
*Diffuse during study time.
*Apply topically to relieve feelings of tension.
