Why Fit Club should be on YOUR to do list!

Anyone on my friends list on FB has saw me post about Monday Night Fit Club. Although you may not exactly understand what that means. I want you to take a few minutes out of your FB stalking and read this.   There was a really nice write up on Fit Club a few months ago in Evansville Living, you can take a minute to read that too. I’ll post the link at the bottom.  So, ready or not, here I go…

Almost a year ago, last March to be exact, I attended my first Monday Night Fit club. Up until that time I had been working out at home with only the direction of what I could research myself on the internet and family members. My main workout was boxing or rather hitting the heavy bag. To warm up we would do about 30 minutes of calisthenics. Push ups, sit ups, jumping jacks, squats/calf raises. We would do a certain number then stop.  We had a schedule where we did this 3 days a week. It was fun and I was seeing very slow results but sometimes it would get tedious.  One night while we were working out, my step daughter and workout buddy got a phone call from her friend Crystal Paul. Crystal worked out at a gym and had recently started attending a fit club and wanted my step daughter to join her one night. Since that was our workout night too, Crystal said to bring me.  So we went.

I was nervous, I really wasn’t into working out with people.  Well, other than my family. Or rather, I never had the chance so I was afraid I would walk into that room and find a bunch of fit, in shape people who would laugh at me. I was slightly overweight at this point and just getting my cardio up. I walked into that room and took a look around. There was definitely a few people here who were in tip top shape, but there were some that weren’t too! That made me feel a little better.  There were about 15 of us in a small room and we ranged in age and size and I was so happy to see I wasn’t the only one who didn’t have their cardio up!

The workout was nothing that I ever expected. It was fun, we laughed, we cheered each other on. When I would lag behind one of the others would come stand by me and push me a bit harder. I felt like it wasn’t my first time there but that they’d been cheering me on all along. That started my addiction of  not just the Beachbody workouts, but the people who did them too!

Since then, we’ve moved from a small room in an apartment to a big gym at a church. Every week we have new faces. Some stay with us, some don’t. It happens.  I will say the ones that stay with us have had such success in their journey to get fit. I am living proof! Not only did I stick with Fit club, I started doing Beachbodys workouts on my own at home. I started a 90 day program most of you have also seen my post about P90x! TWICE!

Not every workout is for everyone! Although I do believe with the right modification you can make any workout work for you. Example, P90x is full of push ups and pull ups. When I started I couldn’t do either. So on pull ups, I looped a resistance band over a shower curtain bar. I started my push ups on my knees and literally did 1 my first day!  Instead of jumping you can just move one foot at a time side to side. There is someone modifying EVERY exercise that Beachbody offers. They offer dancing workouts, weight lifting workouts, cardio workouts. They even have a workout you can worship god while exercising. It is one of my favorites! Every Monday night we pick a different workout from each program so you can try it! So you get a different workout every week. You’ll never get bored with the same one! Also we sample Shakeology at the end of EVERY workout so you can try the best healthy meal replacement shake on the market!

So if your New Year’s Resolution was to lose weight and get healthy, why not give it a try. It’s FREE! There is no charge! You can bring your kids, I do. My son Josh who is 10 has been coming and loves it! You can also bring your friends! Heck, bring your whole family! We have plenty of room now!  Also we will be bringing back our Wednesday night Fit Club at Bethel Temple at 6pm  next week. Put that on the calender too! Wow, two free group workouts a week! Who could pass that up if they really want to lose weight, get fit, or tone up!

So tonight, at 630, I’d like to see you at Memorial Baptist Church. 645 Judson St, Evansville IN!  Bring yourself, a friend, your kids, a towel to wipe the dripping sweat and a bottle of water to keep you hydrated. I promise, you WON’T be disappointed. It’ll have you coming back for more just like I did! You not only get the workout, you get the people to motivate you through the workout. What more could you ask for?
